Pulp Up Your Smoothie: Waste Less, Gain More

I love turning leftover fruit and vegetable pulp into smoothies! It’s a method to reduce food waste while creating healthy beverages. Additionally, it enhances the fiber content of my smoothies and provides nutrients to my diet!

Types of Pulp

There are types of pulp that can be added to your smoothies based on the fruits and vegetables you have juiced. Some common varieties include:

Fruit pulp: Extracted from fruits, like apples, oranges, and berries, fruit pulp is packed with fiber and antioxidants making it a valuable addition to smoothies.

Vegetable pulp: Vegetable pulp, left over from juicing vegetables like carrots, kale, and spinach, is high in fiber and essential vitamins and minerals, making it a great addition to smoothies.

Nut pulp:  Derived from making nut milk like almond or cashew milk, nut pulp is high in protein and healthy fats that contribute positively to the nutritional content of smoothies.

Seed pulp: Chia seeds and flaxseeds don’t leave behind pulp after juicing. However, when soaked, they form a fiber-rich meal high in omega-3 fatty acids which can be a great addition to smoothies.
